Ezhimala beach , located 55 kms from Kannur town, is a cluster
of hills. The Ezhimala Beach, bordered by the sea on three sides
with the Ezhimala hills making the back drop, is a lovely place
to spend your vacation.
Ezhimala is a town which has historical
and mytholigical significance attached to it. The Chera-Chola
dynasties fought a fierce battle here in the 11th century.
It also was made the capital by the ancient Mushika dynasty.
The rare herbs found here have a mytholigical significance
as they are said to be related to "Ramayana".
The colourful history is apparent in the
beautifully sculptured stone pillars found here in an ancient
mosque. An old cave and burial chamber can be found at the
foot of the hills. An antique Light house - The Mount Deli
Lighthouse - can be seen around 50 kms away from here. This
Lighthouse, at present is being maintained by the Navy and
has been declared as a restricted area.
A dream place to be with the sea beach
having its own unique colour and the sand being of a different
texture. This place has been chosen to make Asia's largest
Naval Academy. Entry is only by permission.
