Kerala
is famous for its Backwaters and is fast becoming
one of the favourite destinations of nature lovers and
tourists. Stretching over 1900 km, the backwaters interconnect
the inner otherwise isolated villages with cities and
towns. The Backwaters Destinations are well connected
with roads and rails as well as air transport.
Alleppey
is connected by the backwaters to Thottappally, Kumarakam
and Kottayam. As the Map of Backwaters shows,
Thottappally is south of Alleppey and is connected by
the Punnamada Lake. Towards the North is Kumarakom connected
by three lakes – Punnamada Lake, Vembanad Lake and
the Ashtamudi Lake.
North
East to Alleppey and in-between Alleppey and Kumarakom
is Kottayam. Kottayam is connected by the Punnamada
Lake to Alleppey and the Vembanada Lake connects it to
Kumarakom.
The map of the Backwaters in Kerala shows the various
tourism places that are inter-connected by the backwaters.
The Backwaters in Kerala connect Trichur with Nenmara
and Aluva. As the map of backwaters in Kerala indicates,
Cohin and Munnar are connected through the backwaters
flowing in Aluva while Kumarakom and Alleppey get connected
with Periyar through Kottayam. Towards the southern part
of Kerala, the backwaters flow from Alleppey till Kovalam,
